Brainstorm Blog 2

For my Exquisite Corpse Soundscape project, I want to experiment with the depth and complexity of sound. I am really fascinated by highly produced songs that when listened to with the proper equipment, make the listener feel as if they are in a different world. I plan on using many overlapping audio channels at different tones and volumes to create as immersive of an experience as I can. I would like the listener to close their eyes and be taken through some sort of story.

My favorite piece of musical art is a project called Everywhere at the End of Time by the Caretaker. Everywhere at the End of Time is a six part, six and a half hour composition that takes the listener through what feels like mental decay and is supposed to simulate Alzheimer's disease. The project starts clear and joyful and progressively gets more and more distorted and dark after each stage. The six parts are meant to simulate the stages of Alzheimer's and the gradual descent into nothingness.

Everywhere at the End of Time is super intense and near impossible to replicate, but I hope to take the listener through a progression similar to what The Caretaker was able to accomplish.
